Understand why to change ?
It's not mandatory to change the URL of each blogger post, but it's important to organize the default URL by assigning a custom URL, so as to make it :
- Short
- Simple
- Brief
- Readable and
- Most importantly easily accessible
So, making alterations in default URL is a concern for all bloggers. I used to change URL's for every single post of my blogs. Therefore, I wish you also learn on 'how to change it' in this post. It's very simple and easy too. Follow the below steps.
Step - 1
Login to your blogspot account and goto newpost or already saved post. You will be given a space to enter title of the post as shown below. Remember; the title that you enter there before saving the post will be considered as the part of default URL as shown in the third picture.
For example, say you entered "how to change custom url" in the title menu. Now to see the default URL, just save the post (not Publish !) and click the dropdown option 'Links' arranged right to the page as shown below.
Step - 2
After clicking the link, you will see 'Permalink' with 'Automatic Permalink' option checked as shown in below picture. The URL that is displayed is the default URL for that page. You may observe that the default url contains the title lines that you entered before. But if the title is large; then, only a part of the title will be taken in the URL, that requires us to customize it.
OK, to change it, just check or click the 'Custom Permalink' option arranged below 'Automatic Permalink'. You will then see a space. In that space type the line (that you wish to see in URL) with words separated by hyphen ( - ). A best URL is one that includes more meaningful keywords related to that post content.
Below pictures shows different cases of typing lines in the space. When you enter lines with space gap between them (highlighted in below example), the blogger won't accept and displays 'Invalid Characters:[]' like shown below.
When the words are typed continuously, the url will include continuous text as shown below. This will decrease the readability and hence has little or no advantage; not even with crawlers !
Step - 3
So, the best way is to put dash (-) between individual words. Even underscore (_) is not recommended. Blogger consider this as a blank space. OK say, finally you decide to include hyphens (-) and selected the below line (example)

Then click 'done' to see the url. The url will look like
http://yourblogname.blogspot.in/year/month/change-default-url.html
Step - 4
Remember; year and month are default and cannot be removed from blogspot url. But, we can change the figures if we wish to. To do this, click the 'Schedule' button as shown below, doing this will display 'Automatic' option checked. Click 'Set date and time' which will display the date and time to set. Select the date as well as time and click 'done'. Save the changes to see the customized URL.
If you wish, you may even change the URL's of already published posts by doing the above steps. But be careful, by doing this, that posts previous URL won't work and so; if anyone tries to visit the page with the use of old URL, they might not access the page. Therefore, only if your post is recent and is not socialized much, then you may go for a
change in URL. Else think before doing !
