How to add Flipkart affiliate ads to your Blog | Indian bloggers

We had seen the differences between AdSense and affiliate programs (check the ways of making money and the difference between AdSense and affiliate programs). Like I said, AdSense won't be helping you immediately after setting your blog, but affiliate programs does. They will encourage you to continue your writing and you will not get disappointed like most do. The thing is most of the bloggers expect to earn immediately after starting their blog, and unfortunately you can't expect AdSense to help you in this regard. Building traffic and getting some money from AdSense is a time taking process and you need to be really patient and consistent.

During this process many people get frustrated and therefore stops blogging. So, I therefore suggest you to start with some affiliates. Flipkart is wide-spreading in India. It's one of the largest online product selling website. According to Alexa Rank, Flipkart is one of the top 10 most searched online websites in India. Earlier, I never used to buy anything online, but now I have been ordering many books and gadgets from Flipkart, such is their service.

So, If we include their ads, then most likely we may earn some money at least in the beginning. They will pay you from 8% to 15% of the actual product cost.  I had already discussed similar article about - How to add Amazon affiliate ads to a blog. Here we will see how to add Flipkart affiliate ads in a blog.

Step - 1

Sign up to Flipkart Associate account. If you already have one, then sign in to your account. And enter the following information :
  • personal details
  • Contact number
  • Website/blog information
  • Your Bank account details

Step - 2

After doing the formalities, you will be landing in a page as shown below. Scroll down to see Affiliate tools section in left bar as shown below.

  • OK, here are some suggestions on selecting a widget for your blog Flipkart offers zone - These are banner types which show only texts like "Exciting offers like clothing ....." They don't show any specific product.
  • Bestseller widgets - These are rectangular or square ad boxes which show a specific product, especially a gadget with some offers, these do great in blogs. But only few (minimum four) product offers are allowed.
  • Featured Deals widgets - These are more or less similar to bestseller widgets.
  • Product links and banners - allows to browse for a specific product and put that as ad in your blog. But these are very small badges and are of least useful. Google recommends banners of sizes 250 X 250, 300 X 250, 728 X 90 leader boards or 160 X 600 vertical banners because they do performed well.
  • Static banners - As the name says they are static with a general information like 'offers', 'fresh deals' etc
  • Search bar are just a bar that can be placed in your blog so that users can search for a product in that bar. I hope, this have little or no use.
  • Multi Product Banners - I likes this kind off banners mostly, They are simple and allows us to select a specific product to display the same in our blog.

Step - 3

Lets assume that you wish to put 'Multi Product Banners' in your blog. Click the link 'Multi Product Banners' as shown in the above picture.

Then you will see the below display. Select your choice. Say you want to put a vertical banner, then check Vertical and then select the number to products to show; either three, two or one (I will consider three here), then click Continue.

Step - 4

Clicking this will display 'Search Products to display' as shown below. Type a product that you want to show, say Ipad mini and then select the category 'Mobiles' in the drop down menu next to the search bar as shown. Click Search.

Doing this will display a list of available products with the name 'Ipad mini, Now choose a product that is more attractive, mostly bought by users and with low cost (offer price) and click 'Add Product'

Step - 5

Your selection will appear below the search tab as shown below. Like this select at the most three products. You may select different categories too. For instance, I took a tab, a book and ladies wear as shown.

Women products like clothing, shoes, beauty, health and some products like electronic gadgets are the one mostly preferred in online purchases. Research found that percentage of online purchases by women are more compared to men's purchase. So, do target including ads for women. But this may not work always, it depends on your blog's content and niche. If your blog is say about an exam or education, then prefer to include books that is more related to your topic.

Step - 6

Ok, once you select your desired products, scroll to the bottom of the page to find 'Continue' button. Click that.

Step - 7

After you click the continue button, you will see three formats of header 'Flipkart', select any one color. Then click 'Review Banner'. Sometimes by clicking this, you may get a horizontal banner, If so close the banner and scroll to the top of the page and then check 'Vertical' link again, then scroll down and click 'Review banner'. You should now be seeing the below shown display.

Step - 8

If you are satisfied, close that and click 'Get Code'. A pop up display will appear with the code, copy that.

Step - 9

Log in to your blogger page and go-to blog > layout > Add a Gadget as shown in the picture.

Step - 10

By clicking Add a Gadget will display a list of available gadgets, scroll to see 'HTML/JavaScript', click that. Then you will see a pop up window with a space for content. Paste your code there and click save changes. There is no need to give title to that ad. Click 'Save

If you wish to re-locate the ad, drag it to the desired location and then click 'Save changes' in the blogger layout. Now view your blog only to see the ads displayed in the side bar ! That's it you are done.

Hope this helps.

    1. Yes, you can, it's not illegal. The blog is your ownership and you have the full rights to assign space to any kind of ads, be it is adsense or third party. You can even sell some space for ads !

    1. Just like we add Adsense code below post titles, flipkart html code may be inserted below the title tag of the code. If possible I will try to cover the explanation in my next post.

    1. Hello Arun,
Affiliate program banners are fast and they will appear instantly - once we include the ad code in a HTML gadget. May be you should check the position of the ad code in your blog's layout. Also check the width of the location where you are willing to put add. It should work. Before using Adsense, I were using Flipkart ads only, and I did this with the same procedure. I even checked the same now, it's working. Please do check and also make sure that you copied all the code !

  7. I want to ask that after i add this banner too my blog this will fetch my Affilate id automaticly or i have to add that too after coping the code.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No need to add any Id's to your blog, once you add the code, then if someone clicks the link, the percentage will be automatically directed to your ID. The interesting thing is even if I use your code say in my blog, then also - any clicks will fetch amount to your ID and not me !

So, don't worry, just copy and paste the code provided you copied the code from your own flip-kart affiliate account !

  11. how to put a multiple flipkart products in blog page

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Just take multiple code from flipkart affiliate page (like you did taking a single code) and put that in separate html gadget (as in step 9 above). That will add multiple ads in your blog page. You may also include more than two products in a single ad by selecting multiple products (as explained in step 4 to 6).

    1. It's possible Vinay, but before that; have a good number of content/posts and design your blog properly. Even affiliate providers like Flipkart .... visit blogs to check if their blog is sufficiently well designed and whether that blog is receiving optimal page views and without posts, you cannot expect page views!

I coudn't get the code...When I click the 'get code' it shows "Please wait while the code is being generated" ... why so?

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's probably because of the load on web page at that time. Wait for some time and try may be after some hours. If the problem exits, then better if you try with other browsers. May be that should help

And one question, if I click my own code to buy products will I paid or not?

    1. No, your adsense account will get disconnected. You will no longer see any ads in your blog if you try to monetize by clicking ads in your own blog. Google is intelligent to note what actions you are doing!

  20. Can I put an adsense on free hosting webpage ?
I have done it and an emil from adsense @noreply came telling that the content is not matching in their critarea
    What to do sir?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, you can put adsense on free hosting pages, provided you have good content. If you got that reply, then you need to recheck your web posts contents, check if your content is matching any one's else. Also, maintain regular posts without giving gaps between each post. Google might not approve at the first submission, you need to wait (say a week) and apply again and again til you get the approval. It took three attempts for me to finally get the adsense approval!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Please don't expect much outcome from affliate accounts, these are only temporary solutions, and the main income comes from AdSense, that too when your website has sufficient visitors everyday. Affiliate programs might work well, when the ads are more relevant to your blog content and people are needy of such products. So, please check your blog's content and select affiliate ads accordingly. Also, be truthful while blogging and don't lure them or direct them to purchase the products as listed by your affiliate links. Doing so might drop down the count of your regular readers. Temporarily go for affiliates and aim for getting adsense. This is what I can say. Gud luk.

    1. Probably the problem is with template type of your blog. Some templates (esp. dynamic one's) are not capable of handling html links. First, check if you have pasted the complete code in the widget. Even, still problem exists, then try changing the design template and check. I believe that should help.
