How to hide | customize default navigation bar in blogger

Welcome back friends. Today, we will discuss 'how to customize or hide default navigation bar' for blogspot. Navigation bar is nothing but the top most horizontal bar that appear by default in blogger; as shown in below picture.

Frankly speaking, the default navigation bar is of little use to the visitors. As you can see, it contains a Blog icon, Search bar, Share and Next Blog links. Going through the 'Next Blog' link allows one to view some recently updated blog posts similar to your's. Clicking the Blog icon takes you to your blogger dashboard. So, users don't find this bar much useful. Blog design/layout should be convenient to the users and not for the bloggers. In fact having default navigation bar will give un-aesthetic look to the blog layout. So, it's better if we either remove or customize it for better look.

Let us now see how to remove the navigation bar and at the end we will see how to customize it.

Step - 1

Sign in to your blogspot account and go-to blog > Layout as shown below.

Step - 2

Once you click Layout, you should be seeing 'Navbar' placed at the top right corner of the layout as shown in the picture. Click 'edit'.

Step - 3

Clicking edit will display a pop-up menu with different styles of navigation bar. If you like anyone of the home design, then select that. I recommend you to skip the Navbar at all, so scroll down to see 'Off' option at the end. Check that and click 'Save'. After that click 'Save arrangement' in your blogger account. You are done.

Customize Navigation bar

Now you know how to hide the default navigation bar, learn further how to customize it to give an aesthetic look. For this, I recommend you to go through the  website 'bloggerthemes' that help you to do this.

There are no formalities like logging in, putting profile pics etc. You are required to fill the required spaces (by entering your/blog FB, G+, twitter and RSS page URL's). Don't forget to customize the bar. Adjust the color of the bar, links, and other things to match your blog's template color scheme by customizing the three options as shown in the picture.

Whatever customization you do will appear on the top of the blogger themes page as shown below. Frequently check that to match your template.

Once you are done with the process, click 'Finish customization'. You will be directed to a page with HTML code along with the procedure to include that code in your blog. Follow that step-by-step procedure to get a customized navigation bar. That's it you are done.
